Director of Children and Youth Ministries

1.0 Purpose

1.1 VISION STATEMENT:

The Youth and Children’s Ministry of First Presbyterian Church will passionately endeavor to share the power of God’s love through spirit-led, mission-minded, bible-based education in a relevant way.

1.2 GOALS:

a) To create a safe environment where faith can be discussed and challenged.

b) To train up Disciples of Christ.

c) To teach the principles of the Reformed Faith.

d) To encourage sharing the Gospel.

2.0 Responsibility

2.1 The Director of Youth and Children’s Ministry is responsible to the Chairperson of the Christian Education committee and the Pastor.

2.2 The Director of Youth and Children’s Ministry will be responsible for their own professional development including maintaining a healthy spiritual life.

2.3 The Director of Youth and Children’s Ministry will be responsible for maintaining a professional relationship, conduct and attitude cognitive of their position held at First Presbyterian Church both at the church and in the community.

2.4 The Director of Youth and Children’s Ministry must understand their role and responsibilities and consult the Chairperson of the Christian Education committee and the Pastor before making any modifications.

3.0 Duties

3.1 To be at the church on Sunday morning to teach Sunday School and participant in the service of Worship.

3.2 To establish and maintain a youth council in which the Director of Youth and Children’s Ministry will serve as Chair.

3.3 To reach out to children and youth in the community regardless of church membership, to build relationships with youth and children of Hugo.

3.4 To plan and execute at least one special activity per month with at least two months with a missional/service focus.

3.5 To plan one evening activity per week.

3.6 To make a monthly report to the Christian Education Committee either in writing or in person at the committee meeting.

4.0 Qualifications

4.1 Must have Spiritual Maturity and a solid faith walk and must able to articulate their faith that is relative to youth and children.

4.2 Associates Degree or some college or tech school classes.

4.3 High School Degree with three to five years of experience in the field of Children and Youth ministry.

5.0 Requirements

5.1 Must be willing to work Sundays and at least one night during the week every week.

5.2 Must be flexible to work when needed by the church with the understanding that this position is bi-vocational.

6.0 Personal Skills

6.1 Must be punctual and have the ability to meet goals set by the committee.

6.2 Must have immediate access to adequate transportation to be used as directed in carrying out the duties of this position.

7.0 Work Conditions

7.1 The Director of Youth and Children’s Ministry will be provided with a budget.

7.2 The Director of Youth and Children’s Ministry will given two weeks vacation following the completion of six (6) months of employment. Annual vacation will not accrue over time.

7.3 The Director of Youth and Children’s Ministry will be evaluated by the Christian Education Committee after thirty days and 6 months from the date of employment. Following evaluations will be yearly.

7.4 Office space will be provided which will include office supplies.

7.5 Partial Cell phone reimbursement will be provided.
